Users experience systems that shut down without warning. Many have significant overheating issues. Please share with me if you get same self test results and temperature :) This will make the device a little bit quieter. This will ensure that the CPU will never go into turbo mode and the temperature will stay within the 80 c degree under load instead of 100. Part of the test, you will get stress test and there you will see the CPU temperature is reaching 100-104 Celsius.įor those who want to live with this, you can go to Bios (F2), and disable Intel Turbo boost feature. for me, when I run dell self test (power off the machine, once it gets off, hold function key and at the same time press the power button). I think this model have a week cooling system which leaves the CPU with high temperature and fan at high speed most of the time. Now they requested an engineer visit to replace the motherboard again and i refused as it's not the solution. Then they replaced the motherboard, CPU, Fan, heat sink and new thermal paste and the issue still exists. First they applied a new thermal paste and that didn't make any difference. I am going to show these problems on one of 72 so exactly know the issues. They asked me to submit service request call and waiting onsite tec to come and fix these issues. I called Dell Australia and explained the issue. Let me know what have you tried so far beside the FW upgrade ?īottom line is to upgrade to another model, as this could be an issue with these ultrabooks. You can try exchanging it/upgrading if it is an option for you.

I was also doing some reading on the Dell sub-reddit and some are suggesting that the Core-m has a better ability to manage heat better. I was coming from "what can I upgrade to" rather than "I need tech support" kinda thing point of view so they have not offered much help except that they suggested that I should refer back to the sales person who got me this purchase in the first place. I also updated the intel dynamic platform and thermal framework to 8.1 via the Dell website.Ĭurrently, the laptop is docked with two external monitors (E2414H). I updated the BIOS FW to the latest version A10. see temperature stats here Opens a new window.

I am currently having the same problem on no matter what power plan I use (High performance/Power Saver) (what is yours). Before yesterday I received my E7250, see specs here Opens a new window.
